wash/clean an EK Ribbon...?

Have a quite stiff, creased, dirty early orange EKII ribbon that needs some TLC...what is the best route to go to spruce it back up....?steam irons can take out heavy creases but need to clean it first...?

Thanks in advance for ideas....orange ribbons are kind of tough to find, so...

I use warm water and a tooth brush then dry between two heavy books

would you use any very mild soap lile a ladies Dove handsoap (bar type) which has no phosphorous...very minimal amount...?
