      Hello Mark:
Interesting Heer eagle flag center done as a mozaic
in panzer pink or artillery red background waffenfarbe.
Yet square format of the mozaic is more emblematic
of infantry (white bg), engineer (black bg), or Jager
(green bg) unit flags, as others were swallowtails.

      OFW
(below) Link photo & mozaic eagle center details.
(below-2) WW2 Heer unit flag chart.

        hi,
Thanks for the photo I couldn't manage to post it? Can't really see it being preserved ,it really want's removing to a museum.
square format imo easier to do a swallow tail roof panel would not be symmetrical.

Should be easy enough to remove intact. Jack up a flat board flush with mosaic, hold firmly, cut around edge from below or above, lower board, place another board on top to sandwich it, clamp edges and Bob's your Uncle. Seemples.

Not in the politically correct Germany of today it is not. The correct thing involving anything with a swaz, is to smash it to pieces, put it in the rubbish bin then try and pretend it never happened.

The only saving grace would be if one of the Panzer regiment museums got involved and wanted it. However, there would be a lot of red tape for them to go through,

How would a foreign collector fare with trying to buy this I wonder?

...and with that it would certainly not be simple to get any public funds or art /architecture philanthropists to fund the safe removal process.

heck, if anything , I am really surprised someone did not do something to damage it already in the DDR era or in the 90's-even if it is on the ceiling.

how can someone damage it in DDR times if it was under Russians until 1992 ?
good question is why any punk has not done that after russians left from there ....lets hope it will be saved
