    How to display a flag

    Hello !
Normally next Summer I will have a room only for me and my collection. I'm already thinking how to arrange it. I have few RKF and ID flags. And I don't know how I can display them and keeping them protected from the dust...

I have no problem with the UV since I will open the window shutters when I will be there. But for the dust I have no idea. Apart a big frame I don't see nothing.

Someone here can give me some advice ?

If dust is the level of normal lhousehold dust, i wouldnt worry.Plenty of collecting rooms have cloth items that are openly exposed . Uniforms for example , especially, rarely end up under glass. Also framing things can present its own issues as cloth items are best left to breath. Stagant air is not good, especially if it retains moisture. (mould is a good example)

Regular vaccumming of the floor and a simple dustoff with a soft brush is all you need.Keep the humidity at 50% and watch out for moths. And a decent fan to circulate air or dehumidifier.

I have all my flags simply pegged up on wooden brackets with a simple pelmet to hide the pegs. No issues to date.

Thanks Keifer Kahn for your advices and thanks jacquesf for this nice display picture

You make a good point Keifer. My uniforms are not protected with glass and all is going well for now. I just protect them with big sheets that I remove the weekend, when I can enjoy them.

Are they off the shelf frames or made to order Jacquesf?
                  The display looks great.

They are custom made frames with shadow boxes, easily made by any picture framer. I use them for my tunics as well. J

Thanks Jacquesf. Are they expensive to have made?

                        flag displays

Your flag frames look very good. How is the flag attached to the interior of the frame?

They are rolled/attached around a wood rod inserted side to side at the top of the box. J
