    Archival quality polymers

So... Rethinking my plans for building archival quality display cases and cabinets for militaria and collectibles. I will be resuming soon, albeit on a very part time basis, as I am still halfway through my medical degree.

One problem I've struck on is security. Laminated glass is prohibitively expensive for many, and so I've looked into transparent polymers.

Is polycarbonate any good for archival storage, rather than glass? I've not found any decent answers to this anywhere.

    Thanks in advance.

UV filtering plexiglass is an alternative to Tru-Vue or UV filtering glass for framing prints, etc., so, using UV plexi instead of glass in a display case or cabinet should be perfectly fine.

Thanks for the reply and link, buzz. Any idea what the shock resistance is like compared to solid polycarbonate and tempered glass?

I would not have a clue. The plexi would certainly have a lot more 'give' than tempered glass.
