Vaseline bath - protection for gold finish on badges???

    Hello Gents,

I have a question about vaseline bath protection.

I read many post about this method but I didnt found any info how it works with gold finish on badges.

I have problems with constant humidity in my area. I'm keeping badges in vacuum pack but sometimes they are on uniforms for display. I would like keep the same condition of gold and silver finish on badges as I bought them.

Whats Your opinion about vaseline protection for gold and silver finish?

Is it works or its just myth?

Hope it will not hurt finish on my badges!!! Whats Your thoughts?

Thanks a lot for guidance, Rob

Why don't you simply buy a dehumidifier????

Thanks guys for Your fast response...

About dehumidifier - I have two children and humidity is highly desirable. Children doesn't like dry air. In winter time the humidifier works on high gear all time. The family health is on first place.

I'll stay at my vacuum packs and now I'll make vaseline bath to better protection.

          I'll write my observations soon.

          Best, Rob

I use Vaseline on my BWB's... to clean them up and help prevent future rust. I've been told it works but I'm not sure if it really does ...

A humidifier won't make the entire house dry. When you buy one it's says in the description how much the working area is. You can use it in one room or so.

Best thing for leather and any other treasures of our is to keep them in a dry spot out of the sun. Just keep the dehumidifier in your collection room.
I have used Vaseline to clean zinc pest but I don't like the idea of leaving it on long term.

I cwerainly would not put vasoline on anything that would touch a tunic. Grease stains, on the tunic would be a possible result.
