    Removal of Ink from Leather

Has anyone attempted removing felt pen (or ink) from finished and/or unfinished leather?

I have a holster that someone has added their initials to using, what appears to be, a black felt pen and I would like to make the letters disappear.....if possible.

Your help with this matter will be much appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Vilja

Are the letters on the finished or unfinished leather?
I am assuming the letters are black, if they are on the finished side of black leather, you can possibly cover it with leather dye or polish. If on the unfinished side you can try to gently sand the leather.
You posted photos while I was typing.
On the finished side, you could try some acetone, and touch up with polish or dye.
I don't believe anything will make the letters disappear.
      Ralph.

Try dabbing it first with some diluted oxyclean.

Thank you both for your input and here are the results of your helpful hints.

On the finished leather side I very carefully used a combination of Oxyclean, Acetone and stick of ink remover for leather from Spinneybeck.

On the unfinished leather side I carefully used 100 grit sandpaper and a nubuck block by Tanya.

Again, thank you for your help and as far as I am concerned, the ink disappeared.

          All the best,
          Vilja
