    Late War KVK 1st class w/swords

    Just purchased a late war KVK 1st class with swords that has lost nearly all of its wash apart from the pin - is there anyway that this medal can be brought back to its former glory?

    Refinishing the badge would ruin its integrity as a historical collectible and hurt its value. There are lots of early KVK awards in Tombak that retain all the finish. These late war zinc awards are what they are, the finish is simply gone.

      What he said...this is the way they are supposed to look , and the solder holds the wash better than the base metal. If you are going to destroy the medals integrity you may as well just smash it with a hammer, and put it out of its misery, then turn around and walk into a door to ice the cake, or leave it alone, and learn proper protocol.

      p.S. It is still in its former glory.
