    Oxidized metal on SA dagger

I've got a nice SA dagger but the chromed tip on the scabbard is beginning to oxidize and get that green gunk on it. Any tips or cleaning it off? I don't want it to ruin the metal as the dagger is in pretty decent shape. Any help is greatly appreciated. Should I put some oil on it to keep the metal lubricated?

The green is "verdigris", which is corrosion of the copper content of the metal-

It seems to occur more rapidly where metal comes in contact with leather. It will continue if left alone, and permanently damage the metal. At the very least, I would recommend wiping it off with a soft cloth.

If it's still soft just wipe it off with a clean soft Cotton cloth. If it's caked on try working it off from an edge using a wooden toothpick.

Once it's off coat the scabbard with Renaissance Wax. Oil and dress daggers don't mix.
