Is this rust on my EKII or not? Help!

Hi guys! I've had this EKII for sometime now and I was wondering what are those black/brown spots on the front. Since I had it, they haven't "progress" towards the whole medal, but is it rust?

I don't wanna clean it, because I like keeping the history of it, sort of speak.

Any help is most welcome!

Firstly is the core magnetic???? If so then yes it maybe "rust" I understand not wanting to clean the EK in this case I would only brush (rusted? area) with a very soft dry sable paint brush (avalible at most stationary shops) to remove any loss particals ,also if possible display it in a seperate frame from your other EK2 and place some silica bead packs in frame to remove moisture
