    Riker Boxes

    Hi Guys

I know the dangers of long term storage of badges in Riker Boxes. I do like them as one can find a particular badge quickly and storage of multiple boxes is nice also.

I am wandering is there anything on the market that has the look and feel of a Riker Box but is archival safe?

    Best Regards, fischer

Fischer, The newer Riker boxes/frames over the past 8 years has caught up to the collecting world. The newer frames are 99.9999% archival. Using acid free materials and poly batting for lining. Here's two companies that I have used for museum purchases.

Does anybody here know where to buy the handled two sided cases , or the pin hinged types with two sides that fit together face to face with a double handle(when folded open they are able to be seperated as the hinges slide apart and together the glass is face to face) . They are on the riker style, but not actually riker made. I have one of each i found through my travels , but with no names as to who manufactured them, i have never been able to find them or where to buy more since. One (the two sided glass version)has a case cover that the handle goes through that covers both sides when carrying. Maybe some here haven't seen these before, but if so.....I could use a few more of them .

        Many Thanks Paul!

Last time I read anything about Riker boxes, they were bad for long term storage.

        Again, much appreciated...

If you ever to buy older ones I would be concerned. At the local military show some guy sell a lot of older riker frames cheap. You can tell the difference between the two.

Neither have I, as I am still looking. Rikers are OK, but they do not hold up through time for me , and I only have one of each of the types i mentioned...Glad someone knows what im talking aboout , as i'm sure many have no idea what i'm talking about...but it seems to me somebody must be still making them somewhere, as they are made very well, and stand up to the ravages of timeand use.(hope springs eternal)Thanks anyway.

This guy can basically get you anything that is currently being manufactured- I know the cases that you are describing and I think many of those were low production but he has a great array of different similar styles. Coin and stamp collectors also often used them.
