    How to remove handpainted decals?

    All help would be appreciated!

Usually 100% pure acetone will work. Try added heat from a hand held hair dryer with the acetone. Let the acetone sit on it a bit before added heat. What ever you do. Don't scrape it off with a metal blade.

you will destroy history of your helmet
i own a fantastic BW Waffen SS m44 tunic ,with Dachau KL prisioner insignia sewn on a sleve,i will never remove it,and you can trust me i have think to restore this tunic to former glory, but i cant do it,now you try to remove decals that are painted 1945/46 but your choice thats only my opinion.

I agree with besslein. You will destroj a part of the history, if those are applied on '45-46.

My advice is: don't do it.

Of course, it's your helmet and you can do whatever you like, but we all must remember that we're just keeping those thing that will remain long after we pass away... So, we're just keepers, not owners

IMO it's nobody's business what to do with the helmet but the owner
Kurt if possible I would remove those post-war decals and bring the helmet to its original pre-45 condition.
