    Silk which has color bleeding

    I am seeking advice on a silk flag item which has been poorly stored. I am refering to an example similar to this thread (photos courtesy of that member);

    Is colour bleeding from moisture likely to cause damage to the silk fabric, in this thread you see it appears crinkled.

    Has anyone ever attempted to treat, reduce or remove colour bled stains from silk?

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks

    I would not attempt any form of dye stabilization, or bleaching on any old cotton, silk, or rayon fabric. I have seen old fabric fade even more after it was stabilized.

Most stabilizers is a wet application applied to the affected area. Fabric color stabilizer has also destroyed old fabric. Please see my pinned article on Flag and Banner Storage
