    Restoring medical boxes.

    Hello all.

I am quite new to this forum, and I find many interesting subjets here.

As a collector of medical Items, I have aquired a couple of boxes, the "truppenbesteck 1935" and the "sammebesteck".
They are not in the best of shapes - I would even say unusable in the present shape.
I saw recently one of many discussions about the subject of repairing, and re-applying breast-eagles etc.
Would anyone think it completely wrong to renovate these boxes..?..(I have most of the equipment to go into them).
I look forward to any replies.

Ofocurse, what I mean is that I will apply a couple of new deviders, and some new green felt, as well as remove as much rust as possible.

Of course this is your item to do with as you see fit. However unless you are using original period felt and dividers you would be changing an historical medical box.
If you ever come to a point that you may want to sell it. Would it be sold as an original or a representation of a medical box. The felt fabric of today is not like the felt fabric of 75 years ago... Just a thought

Ah yes, this is exactly the major problem. Felt and the cardboard used in the box is very difficult to find. I am doing search for this, but have not yet found any source. First and foremost I wish to find the felt. And Paul, u are absolutely right; it is the right solution.
        Thanks for the answer.
