Hi all,
I have a problem with a Third Reich cigarette card album ("Die Wehrmacht" to be precise), which I would appreciate any advise to solve.
Several years ago, I bought this album, with all the cards intact; but the spine was broken and the pages were coming adrift from the spine.
On a recent visit to Germany a friend gave me an almost mint condition album of the same title with only a few cards glued in.
I now have a "good" album with few cards intact, and a "bad" album complete with all the cards.
Obviously, what I would like to do is remove the cards from the damaged album and insert them in the "Good" album.
Can any forum members suggest a way to do this?
I do not mind if the "bad" album is beyond repair in the process, but bearing in mind that animal glues were used in those times and the cards are "back to back" in many cases the thought of steaming the cards off the pages with a boiling kettle may not be the best idea!
Also, the cards may be damaged during this process - and what adhesive is best for returning the cards to their positions in the "good" album?
I hope that someone on the forum can help me with these questions1
Thanks in advance,
John.
