    mannequin neck is to thick

What to do if the mannequin neck is to thick for the tunic collar.
I just found the perfect mannequinn for my dress blue and then the collar will not close. I could always keep a look out for a new, but that could take some time which I don't have. Here's a pic of my mannequinn.

I can't really help with these kind of mannequins but on foam torsos you can cut the neck out with a sharp knife and hot glue a flesh colored head in the hole. When the neck is too thick you can shave the rear part of the neck to desired size (see below). Sorry I couldn't help.

How thick can the neck be. If I sand it down with a machine it could work

It depends what the mannequin is made of. The old ones were a chalk like material -- they might of cracked but if you can sand it (you could try a test spot somewhere out of sight) that might just do it. However your neck is turned so be careful -- you don't want it to show.

This thread reminds me of much discomfort as I was a 'thick necked" Marine many years ago and I about choked.

I think your mannequin will be a hollow cast type, so simply fixed. Cut the head off under the chin and at the base of the skull - cut the neck off at the collar bone and insert a PVC pipe of about 100mm into the gap. Re-contour the area with car body filler to the neck size required once you have placed the head back into position and paint the new area using a mix of model paints matched to the original 'skin' tone. EASY.
          Good Luck,

              Hi Jaeger,
I just read what I wrote and could hardly understand it myself, so here's a simple drawing of what I'm trying to describe. Any problems, give me a pm?
