    This is absolutley true. There are some excellent professional articles out there to back this up, as well. I believe one is even posted on this forum.

    I am always amused when I see collectors using the blacklight as a "rule of thumb" so speak, authenticating or dismissing things simply on the basis of whether or not they glow. I've even talked to a number of collectors using blacklights who, when asked, don't even know what causes a piece to glow.

      I have a family member finishing up her masters of conservation and has worked a lot with Rayon interning with a conservationist.

      "Rayon is a synthetic thread" is not entirely correct.

      it is neither a truly synthetic nor a natural..it is technically a semi.. although most call it natural.
      Unless its been washed with a brightener white WW2 period Rayon pieces should not fluoresce..
