Glad i could give you a small idea of how you can display "paper".
Regarding scanner i myself prefer CanoScan 8800F, but i guess that anything goes. Just make sure to set the resolution high enough when you scan them, so that you get all the finer details of your document/photos when you print them, and of course in order to meet requests the day you decide to contribute to articles/books or to write them yourself
Here's how a previous arrangement in my "cave" looked like, and yes - the wallpaper makes you wanna cry, but i rather invest in items before anything else
I prefer having these kind of original paper-items in my archival albums and rather just put the "copies" on display - in this way i limit the dangers of seeing my paperwork "disappear" before my eyes...
