Put helmet in freezer?

Hello,

I bought a helmet recently and upon receipt noticed that inside the liner, felt lining had clearly been attacked by moths and there may be larvae eggs still there. I know the treatment for moth damaged items is to put them in a freezer for a few days but would this be bad idea here as I would actually need to put the helmet itself into the freezer? Any advise would be appreciated, thanks.

PS If I was to put the helmet in a freezer, obviously I would put it in some sealed plastic covering first.

Conduct a search on this site, and use the pinned area first
I would use the freezer method first. Any use of moth balls, or other deadly bug bombs may cause serious health problems later. I would vacuum the item lightly first. You can lay a nylon screen piece about 5X6 piece down over the infested area. Hold down with one hand and vacuum over it for several times.
Then place it in the freezer for 72 hours. Yes a plastic bag is best to put it in. When you remove it from the freezer place a packet of damp ridx inside the plastic along with the item to remove any freezer moisture. For at least 2 days. Hope this helps Paul

Agree with Paul, put it in a plastic bag and then in the freezer.
