Is this safe for long term storage?

Hi all. What do you think about this? Is it safe to store medals/badges in this case? Its made from Polypropylene and as far as i know its of good guality and resistant to chemicals and heat and temperatures from -15C to +85 C. Sorry about the blurry picture and thanks for any help.

Hi, Fotis:

Since polypropylene is a known and widely-used archival material, I would have no concerns about storing my collection in such a case. Provided that you are also watching the humidity levels, there really isn't much more one can to do other than choosing a case made of a known archival material. I always give my advice very thoughtfully, since I am also very picky about how I store things.

Chis is correct! Good choice... Yes watch the humidity 24/7 365. You may want to add a mylar barrier between the ribbons and the medal. Sometimes medals can stain ribbons. Paul

Paul thanks for your advice. Yes i am aware of the dangers of humidity but i dont have the money to buy a dehumidifier now although its my top priority for the next months. What humidity level is considered safe in the long term for medals?Thanks again.

Generally the rule of thumb for summer. The room temperature 76-78 degrees. The humidity 43 - 45%. Winter season 68 degrees room temperature 43 - 45% humidity. Paul

Also, if you display on walls, keep all artifacts out of direct sunlight. Cloth in particular. Cheers.

As a dehumidifier, you can use silica gel in bags (written on the bag: do not eat) you always get when you buy shoes, bags, and all kinds of other stuff.
I always take these bags and throw them in my collections drawers. It's not a really great remedy, but better than nothing.
and do not air-tightly cover the plastic box, keep it open (in a closet) or cover it with cloth or paper, so the items can "breathe".
