    Moths?

Hi All, I have searched this part of the forum, but am still puzzled by my latest finding.
On ONE of the 12 tunics I have on display in my collection, I've found a few spots of what appear to be a fine white powder....insert illegal narcotics joke here..... Is this some sort of moth coccoon? I am aware that they are usually a fine white silken type web, which is why this puzzles me. There are no tracks of powder, looks like spots. I've checked EVERY piece of cloth in the room, and nothing else has this. I folded up and bagged the tunic and put it in the freezer for a couple of days. Once it is out, I'm going to vaccuum it thoroughly....My question is, moth evidence, or something else? Pretty sure it's not mould either.

Sure, Paul, but I'll wait until after his solitary confinement in the cooler is up.....no clemency for insects!

        Mike,
Some uniforms can have this. Question : has it been in contact with sweat drops? If so, it comes from that. Some uniforms are allergic to that. I have one with the same disease. Not much you can do about it accept brushing it three times a year. It's usually with blue Battle-Dresses (Navy, RAF,...)

An interesting theory....I can't remember the jacket coming into contact with sweat. And I know for sure the jacket was "de-mothed" which furthers the mystery....Sad part is it's my prized Wing Commander jacket.....he's been replaced on the torso for now by a lowly RCAF Police Corporal
