badge binder storage

I'm setting up this method of badge storage and would like some feedback from this forum in terms of it's long-term archival 'safety'.

Basically, with white cotton thread sown a backing made of non-pilling white fleece (washed in plain water) to a photo-quality archival sleeve (large, 1 photo kind). Photos speak a 1000 words...see below.

I think I can get my entire badge collection in one archival binder. I look forward to your comments.

Thank you Paul. Yours was the sort of blessing I was hoping for. Now I go ahead and start making them in quantity and varying sizes.

I would be a little concerned that something maybe placed on top of the badges and you end up with a Catch or hinge flattened

I believe you are correct that placing in a binder on its side and then some heavy object on top could possibly damage the pins or catch.

However, I am setting it up in a cased archival binder, vertically so that the badges will not unintentionally slip out. Also, I'm noticing that because of the weight they tend to drag the leaf down a little and you need a "snug fit" after you close the binder to prevent the drag. Since the backing is a thick fleece, I believe there is plenty of cushioning and frankly, much less 'tension' on the badges so to speak then when they were in the glass case.

Here are police eagles and on the left are badges that came with their original packets. In this case the paper item go not between the fleece and polypropylene sleeve but in the polypropylene sleeve itself (which can also be used for storing item notes, purchase info, etc.)
