    Thanks for your's advice.

    Maybe, you can try to slowly rub the rust with little size steel wool and oil.
    Or you can try the oxalic acid (be careful with it for your health).

      I have used a product called CLR on rusty tools and the rust was removed without removing the blueing.

        Rust Removal;

        Evap-O-Rust works really well. Look it up on the net. It comes in quart plastic bottles. Soak it overnight & the rust melts away & does not touch the blueig or finish. I use it on shell casings, car parts, etc. in the past with no problem. Some auto parts stores carry it also.

          Evaporust does remove blueing. What i've tried with some weapon parts though is evaporust then re-blueing with perma blue, it looks ok but i wouldn't do it in all situations. In this case though i think simply removing the loose rust and oiling would be best, i wouldn't want to damage the original blueing and wear on the good side.

            I also think that it might be a good idea breaking the magazine down to its basic parts. Different kinds of metal were/are being used for the mag parts (different reaction too, maybe?) and maybe you would be more in control of what's happening during cleaning, as it will all be visible.

            Pushing in the button in the bottom part will allow you slide that part away, letting the spring come out.

            Cheers, Giorgos

              Rust

              Most likely the bluing will be gone under the heavy rust I would think. Brass wool is much more friendly to gun bluing than steel wool. I have had good luck removing small amounts of rust with Breakfree CLP, available at any good gun store. Chris...

                I haven't used it but I researched evapo-rust and I think it would damage it. The CLR sounds like a great idea which I had never considered.

                    Evaporust works best on items with paint you want to preserve under a thin rust layer or rust staining. For example, equipment buckles that are grey painted, egg grenade pull 'balls' with the blue paint on top and that kind of thing.
