How to keep moths away

While there are serious problems with mothballs such as hazardous to human health(not near children, bad for their nervous system)and may cause changes to items in collection, I will still use them in a pinch, till I can get another cabinet, or case, that is basically almost airtight...so moths dont even sense the paper or cloth.
Once I had a whole room closed off which was "mothballed."
oddly mothballs can kill mold sometimes too....
I guess mothballs just kills any life, period.

Granny use to store the woolens in cedar chests. I heard and read somewhere that cedar chips repells moths as well. I purchased little bags of cedar chips that I use in my curio to keep the moths out. Don't know it if works but I haven't seen any moths or moth nips and besides the cedar smells much better also.

I am using lavender packets for my uniforms, I have them lying around in the room. They are a natural product, they do smell, but their smell is a pleasant one. You need to renew them now and then, but I don't have any problem with moth or other wool-eating freaks every time I check...

someone asked me the other day" Do you know what moth balls smell like?" I said ...er...yeah, and then they said" howd you get your big nose down between their little legs?"Moth balls dont always work, i use plastic bags or sealed bags like space bags. There are other bugs than moths that destroy wool , and etc.

Cedar wood blocks
I use Cedar Wood blocks in and around my caps and uniforms, they are about 1inch cubed and all you have to do is periodically sandpaper them to rough them up and keep the woody scent permiating, this will keep the horrible critters at bay.I also find that they hate being smacked with a rolled up newspaper!
