Pickelhaube Preservation Help Please

Hello all,

I need help in trying to preserve a WWI felt pickelhaube helmet. It is bad shape and needs lots of help. There are some serious cracks that are the main problem.

Can anyone offer any opinons on what to do??

Try pickelhaubes.com and ask the guys there. Its in bad shape sadly. The rear visor is compleatly gone . if you want to preserve it good on you but if you want a nice looking Pickelhaube possiably put the good fittings onto a leather shell??

Well, the helmet is not mine, but a friends.

My friend is a WWII vet and he recieved it from his WWI vet father. The helmet may become mine in the future, but I want to help him keep it from getting any worse.
