These IKEA cases are great for displaying not only single pieces, but each shelf has adequate room for groupings as well.

It may be hard to make out from this photo, but if you look closely you can see that many of my SBs and WPs are displayed with not only all of the corresponding medals/awards entered into them, but also many of the additional documents that came with them; award documents, KIA letters written home to the soldiers families, Ausweise, Erkennungsmarke, cloth insignia, etc.

Another alternative would be to use a frame or better yet - a shadow box- like member jacquesf does. You can see examples of how he uses shadow boxes to display some of his items in a thread he stared on his collection, here.

As a cheap and simple storage method, you can make envelopes from acid-free paper (just fold a piece of paper to fit a WP/SB, and DO NOT use any glue, adhesive tape etc. Write the content on the envelope with soft pencil. You can get acid free paper in art shops, a drawing/painting paper is just fine, acid free and a bit thicker for additional protection. You can get an acid free 40-page sketch booklet (to tear leaves out) for a couple of €. Then put enveloped WP/SB's into an acid-free cardboard or metal box.

And I can also recommend Lighthouse products (albums, insert pages...), intended for stamp or money collectors. I use them for patches, photos, documents, dog tags and many more.

I use folders and plastic sleeves provided by a company called arrowfile who specialise in storing collections www.arrowfile.com They cater for pretty much everything from coin pockets & index cards right through to glass storage cabinets.

For Folders I use Item # KD 22 - there are plenty of other folders on the site, and one double set at half the price of this one but I just prefer these folders.

Sleeves Item # RA8315B - although the measurements stated are slightly smaller then a WP/SB they do actually fit in quite nicely without stressing the books, however you can only use one side of the sleeve (so 4 per sleeve rather then 8) to achieve this otherwise the stress of having 8 books per sleeve will bend the edges of your books and will rip the pockets. But 4 per sleeve I find is quite sufficient.

I have attached a pic from my set to show you - you could always use the back 4 pockets to store any research print outs you may of done for each relevant WP/SB. I use one folder for SB's and one for WP's, except where they come as a set.

Did you get the pages, or individual holders??? There are different sizes and formats for both, perhaps you ordered the wrong ones?

just thought id chime in with a site, i use archival quality folders and plastic sleeves from www.my-history.co.uk and www.genealogysupplies.com for my old family photos. always found their products to be great quality.

I have checked the site and the Reference Number for the correct sized sleeves is now RE8456B which is 6 x 4.5" and will fit the WP/SB's nicely.
I last ordered Item Ref No. RA3155B in July 2009 which were the 6 x 4.5" versions but they are now the 6 x 4" size.

Thanks, Joe! Although, it has changed and expanded quite a bit since I took that photo! Hopefully I'll be able to find the time to get everything out from the bank and set up for a photo some time this year...

You really can't go wrong with these cases. They're inexpensive, well made and just look great lined up in a row. The only real drawback is trying to hide the wires from the lights - but that's only if you use the IKEA lights they sell for the case. My preferred alternative: track lighting No wires, and you can control the intensity and where the light hits the cases.

Im starting to aquire a few and would love some ideas other than frames (which i also like btw).
