    How to repair leather?

Usually I don't like restoration. But I do have a very nice canteen, late war, with canvas straps with leather ends which has been broken in 2 parts by the fool who owned it before me. I was wondering if there is any leather glue which could be used to put together the 2 broken parts. the leather is broken but still together, so if i used glue to repair the broken side, it should work.
Anyone tried that before and has a particular product to suggest?
    thanks

    Hard to actually fix.

Sad thing is that most leather does not do well over long periods.

When I was young, helmet liners were supple and holsters and belts usable.

Now most are fragile relics and getting worse every day.

We ruined a lot of it with nears foot oil, mink oil, and other remedies.

Today leather is best left to die in peace.
