Chris , thanks for you post.
I don't think the skin oil is issue in this case. Why?
I mentioned early about silver plate which I keep in same room as collection.
This plate let's say a week ago had nice silver color, now it's "gold"
If it's skin oil I would expect to see some "gold" stains (around fingerprints and so)
In this case, as you can see whole plate changed color..
Please let me know if I'm wrong..

If I didn't know better (and, I may NOT...) that appears to be nicotine staining.

Are there smokers in your home?

      Bob.

WOW! This has become a very strange case, indeed! This one actually defies most sensible explanations that would normally explain such things. It's actually beginning to sound like something from an X-Files episode--maybe something extraterrestrial, perhaps. Just kidding! I couldn't resist with all the weirdness about this one.

The bottom line, however, and obviously, is that it's definitely something with the environment--in the air of the environment, specifically. I just can't imagine what else it could be that could effect such a number of items, in the same odd way, none of which are making any physical contact with any known "out-gassing" materials.

From all the details in your posts, if I had to bet on anything, I'd say it may have something to do with the recently laquered and painted surfaces in your house. Again, that's just going with the only thing that's been mentioned so far that would certainly produced fresh and more significant gases in your environment. To me, it's beginning to sound like you need to at least temporarily evacuate your collection from the area. It the problems don't stop after that, then I may be seriously thinking of an X-Files connection. Just kidding again...I think.

          Chris

I have to say that so far nothing helps. Ren Wax or Vaseline is useless.
I keep fresh pack of activated carbon in cabinet - it does not work at all.

I think I know what cousing this (if anyone cares) I did a lot of tests on my silver plate (silver plated?) I used silver polishing cloth to remove staining. It work like a charm. But...
It should clean and also PREVENT tarnish on silver items.. But in my environment it worked opposite - staining comes back after 2-3 days. So I washed plate 2-3 times in dish detergent and soft cotton cloth and removed whatever this silver polishing cloth left on item.
Then use damp cloth swilled in pure 95% alcohol. After weeks there is no color change.
I did same thing with EK and two pins - it's all good.
I guess previous owner must used this silver polish cloth on EK...

So much for the "out-gassing" theory.....I'm glad to know that you found the culprit, and have taken steps to eliminate the problem, by actual physical trial, rather than speculation.
As Stalhelm, said, it WAS an interesting mystery!!....

                Cheers,
                Bob.

This is a form of out gassing.
                  As cyisor said...
"But in my environment it worked opposite - staining comes back after 2-3 days. So I washed plate 2-3 times in dish detergent and soft cotton cloth and removed whatever this silver polishing cloth left on item."
                  Reading the quote carefully..

A combination of the treated cloth (as I have stated in past threads) this polishing cloths leave behind a chemical residue. It is not seen by the naked eye.
Just like other cleaners(polishers) like semichrome, flitz, silver polish paste etc. leave behind a film. Something in his enviroment triggered a reaction with the left on (behind) cloth chemical residue.

Not rocket science here. For every action there is a reaction. Basic Science
