Just a reminder these cases are not archival safe. If you keep the foam inside that frame. You will attract moisture to the medals, and you will have an out gassing problem. If you reference to the pinned article mounting a medal. You will see a different system of mounting. Paul

I was thinking the same thing myself. It only makes sense that one must also consider the material on which (or in which) militaria is being placed for display or storage. As Paul said, nonarchival materials will "out-gas", and materials which attract and hold moisture will, of course, exposure your pieces to more moisture. The unfortunate but ultimate result of all of this is corrosion, sooner rather than later.

The truth about all these archival facts is some of the most inconvenient information I've ever had to realize. However, in the end, I'm far more comfortable knowing that I'm not facilitating something much worse than inconvenience.

In reviewing the site again. The only two items that are archivaly safe is the aluminium cases, and the spun polyester. Leatherette usually has a plastic base to it. I feel if they are truly into selling "museum archival" products(there words). They would not be sell these products. Paul

Yes, A silica pack will remove moisture, but not out gassing from the paper and glue.
