Sorry guy's I was out of town at a conservation conference. Adrian is right on with his assessment. Glad you left that one alone. Paul

Well, I sure am glad that got worked out. The main thing that confused me from the beginning was when you said that this white area had developed on the cross, since it was in your possession and it had been noticed only later, after being in storage. I just never imagined that frosting would have developed on the cross while in storage, if it was not there earlier. I've never heard of that happening before. Yes, that is certainly the obvious which I completely ruled out, after I tried to consdier only what could have developed. I guess I look like an idiot here, but I just tend to go with the details and think in terms of the info I get.

In retrospect, I probably just made this more confusing. Sorry about that.

      Chris

Paul, thanks. I am glad I asked before I did anything I would have regretted! Mike.

Chris, I guess I had not examined it in a while and assumed it developed in my care. Your input was fantastic and I appreciate all your efforts to help me. You certainly did not confuse matters rather pointed out all the potential problems that could happen. I can now better protect it because of you. You do not look like anything other than a good collector trying to help someone out with a problem that did not exist!! My fault of course! Mike.
