    Pistol Storage

    Hello

    I was wondering if the product "Bore Store" is safe for long term pistol storage. I have a couple of blued pistols in a case each hoping to prevent rust and cushion them.

    Paul, have you ever heard of these?

    Fischer, So far I have emailed the company twice, and received no answer . I came across these cases from a tip from another collector. My questions were questioning the treatment with something to prevent rusting? What chemical is used for that protecting? I am questioning the chemical used to prevent moisture collecting. I have never heard of this type of treatment. Dose it come off? wear off, do you need to reply it again. Also what is the fabric used for the case construction?
    Humm 2 weeks and still waiting an answer. I'll let you know of my answer. Paul

      You might want to call them to inquire. The phone number is listed.

      I store my firearms in safes. I coat each of them inside and out with RIG. This is an old tried and true rust inhibiting grease that prevents any difficulties with rust. If I wish to handle said firearm, I simply take a clean, soft flannel cloth and wipe the RIG off and away I go. Reapplication is just as simple. My guns are worth my effort to preserve them.

        I just got off the phone with the manufacture that makes the cases at the borestore. Wow! Just as I suspected. A complete run a round, and double talk from the sales rep on the phone. The person on the phone stated it is a nylon/ rayon made material. The inside padding is a soft foam padding. (stay far away from this case). The best part from the sales person was it is impregnated with a water/moisture repellent. He was so excited I thought he was wet his pants. The product that he had discribed as a water repellent wet spray on, and in time wear off. I would buy any of these cases. I see nothing but a headache down the road for the pistol/rifle inside. He also stated if it gets wet often the repellent will come off. Paul

          Wow, Paul! That sure is a load of helpful information about this stuff! Thanks for taking the time to make the call. I'd say that knowing all this will help more than a few collectors avoid a certain nightmare.
