removing paint from a railway eagle?

    Guys:

Today I found a really decent original railway eagle at a really decent price. However, someone painted the swastika black & the interior wreath RED>>>>>> It seems like if maybe 70s era enamell modelers paint, done well but not original.....If I can remove the paint I will buy & remove....whats the fastest, safe est, & most effective way to remove the paint without damage? Thanks in advance...Rich

If the eagle the pot metal type. You can try a test are using mineral spirits, and a Q tip. It's a slow going process. make sure there is no other laquar finish over the eagle. Paul

Thanks paul: Its your standard aluminum eagle........at about a quarter of the price they go for. I dont need it but at that price (if I can remove the paint) I cant let it go.

Buy it whether you want it or not. You can always resell it with or without the paint.

Just try to put in into boiling water before you try chemical stuff.
