    Keeping cartridges attached to a stripper clip?

    Friends,

    At the moment I store my WW2 K98 cartridges (which are deactivated) and my strippers clips separately. Is it ok to store k98 cartridges attached to stripper clips?

    In the long term would I cause damage to either?

    I admit that I have no cartridges or stripper clips in my collection, so I am not an expert on the subject. However, I cannot think of any reason that there should be a problem storing them "attached." Unless the two types of metal (if they are even different) have any known reactions to one another, it just doesn't seem like there could be anything else to worry about.

    However again, I'm mostly responding since no one else has so far. If there are any reasons why this would be a problem, then I'd love to know myself.

    I once had a long-time, very experienced coin dealer tell me to never store copper coins in tin boxes. He said that tin has a way of leaching the copper out of the coins over time. Just hearing that from him was enough to alarm me. The fact that I don't store my coins in such a careless way, never foiled any storage plans of my own anyway. However, I only told that story to suggest that some do believe that certain metals don't react well with one another, and that's the only concern I could even imagine in this case. Hopefully, someone more experienced with metals, etc. can add to this.

      I have WW2 M1 carbine rounds in original stripper clips, o3 Springfield rounds also and have never had a problem. I can think of no reason why K98 rounds would be any different.

            I think I'll add the following point. I have bought unopened cases of ammunition that was packed at the factory on stripper clips so I doubt if any harm will come if you store your ammo that way.
