Except for zink badges no others will loose their finish...
If you've a zink KVK 1 it's possible, but maybe they gave it a silverdip to sell it like a nice one and after a while it'll become like it was or worse..
Your buntmetal badges will not suffer that much and that quick.

The environment in which your badges are stored is also a factor here. Even if badges are untouched by human hands forever, their finishes can still deteriorate over time, if proper humidity levels are not maintained. With sufficient humidity, verdigris, zinc pest, rust, etc. can still effect the finishes. Verdigris can eat copper-based metals (including tombac bronze), zinc can be deteriorated by zinc pest, and of course, iron-based metals are subject to rust. Again, it's mostly all about humidity, since that's what feeds these problems.
