Windex

Hi Guys,

I use Windex to clean the glass panels in my display cases. To date there have not been any effects that I have noted. I always wipe them down ensuring the liquid has evaporated and the odour dissipated before closing them up again.

In an abundance of caution I thought I'd ask if anyone has concerns with this product?

Stu, I am glad you posted this question. You did the correct method by wiping down the entire glass surface. I also ckean with a mild solution of vinegar and water. 1 oz vinegar to 12oz. water. Remember to leave open all doors to help dry it out. I usually leave open 20 minutes. Also if there is a surface other that glass that items sit on. Make sure it doesn't get wet from the spraying of the cleaner. Paul

Thanks for the reply. I'll give the vinegar and water a try. I like to use as few chemicals near my collection as possible. No worries on overspray. I spray the rag not the surface, then wipe things down.

Stu, Good Idea on the cleaner.

I have been using a product called "Pre-Moistened Zeiss Lens Cloth" to clean my eyeglasses. It is a piece of non-abrasive paper soaked in some sort of alcohol. They take a few minutes to evaporate so I use the cloth to wipe the glass on my frames after I clean my eyeglasses. It works great. Removes oiley fingerprints quickly and evaporates from the glass really fast, leaving no residue. Ammersee

I also clean the glass of my display cases with a vinegar and water solution (also letting the glass thoroughly dry thereafer), and I have also never had any problems.

As Pual said, the key is in letting things dry thoroughly and never letting the spray get on collectibles and other sufaces with which they may come in contact.
