    How To Wash A Zelt?

    Dear All,

I have a German Zeltban in Italian Camo, and my little son had the brilliant idea of making a drawing with a pen in it....
Shall I put it in the wash machine? I guess not....

    What do you suggest?

    Tks for help

    Luis

Try some ethanol - at first carefully in a small corner.

For the felt pens - if they have a water basis - you can also try milk!

          Good luck!

Water will be no problem if not too hot.. The question ist if its works alone... may be you can also use some soft washing stuff for wool / cotton.

                Hi,

Tks mbberlin again for your help.
I will try first water with a very soft detergent and I will see the results after....

                cheers

I would take it to a GOOD dry cleaner and ask his advice. Water and soft will probably not do anything. I take many things to a friend here that is very experienced and he has always been very helpful. Good luck

Felt tip marker is magically removed with toothpaste. Even permanent marker such as "Sharpie" brand, disappears with very little effort.

                    Cheers,
                    Bob.

This is a tuff call. I have tried various methods to remove ink. Like all the responds to this thread. Some of these discribed methods work well while others fail horrible. As fabric ages I have seen some ink wash right. While other's hold tight. What method is the correct way it's a coin toss. I have seen professional cleaners methods work, and others peoples methods did not work so well. I wish there was a simple one method to remove it. Just remember do not over clean it, and try on a small area first. Paul

Besides the already great advice given I wanted to add that one of my zelts has been through the wash (cold water no soap) and made it out just fine, no buttons came off, no fading.
