Thank you for the photos Steinar,

This is a nice addition to your collection. It cleaned up very nicely. In a while you won't be able to notice the oil at all.

Yes, Steinar, that's a nice cross you have and some very nice photos you've taken, as well! I need to get myself a camera like you have too.

it is a casio exilim z 40 cam. new models are out, I haven't tested them, but they are probably very good as well. I have taken almost 20 000 pictures with this cam, and it's still working like its new

going to upgrade to a canon eos450d soon

I use a nikkon coolpix L/14. Was $99 and for the price i think it does very well. Im not into taking pictures unless its my car, medals, or me at Tim Hortons.

Sometimes special occasions too. Im a bit suprised theres no thread on what camera people use and their reviews.

Yeah what camera the others are using would be quite interesting.

Will Renwax work for items that have already been corroded to an extent? such as some rusted iron relics that I acquired lately? the surface is not smooth and applying the wax i think will not be even and more so, very difficult to wipe off due to the corroded bits.

some advice would be appreciated. thanks.

Renwax will not check rust, no. It will take something first to neutralize the oxidation before applying renwax or the rust will continue.

Robert, how can i neutralise the rust?

the item has been cleaned with water and has been dried properly now. i need to stop the rust from spreading and corroding. what methods can i use? (now that you've said Renwax is not an ideal solution to corroded iron pieces)

                    thanks.

Personally, I have never had to deal with this. I've heard that naval jelly will check rust. If you paint over rust the rust will continue to oxidize (spread/worsen). Renwax will act as the paint layer, only trapping the rust within. There are ways to check rust. Maybe someone reading this can add more to the topic.

Thanks Robert - I posted another thread more relevant to my question about iron rust. Hope others could chime in. There's already one suggestion there on that thread.

                          Hi,

Please, the Renaissance wax is indicated for helmets?

                          Thanks in advance!

                          Best regards,

                          Ricardo.

                            British museums

                            Hi,
Ren Wax is the only coating that the British Museums use in the protection of their artifacts. It is my belief that it will do harm to helmets and their decals,I have coated a nice vet bring back Luftwaffe SD with one coat some time ago and it is fine, great piece as everytime I get it out the smell of the soldiers hair oil is still permiating from the liner.
                            Regards,Ivan

                              Hi,

I live in a very humid country and frequently rust returned to my helmets. Recently a coated them with RenWax, I dont like the bright results but I think it's a only secure way to prevent rust.

The pictures show the helmets before and after RenWax:

Yes, and it's not as shiny as Vaseline, plus it dries hard and doesn't come off!
                                Cheers, Steve
