    renwax - RENAISSANCE WAX

    hi all
stupid question i know but is renwax and RENAISSANCE WAX the same product and renwax just an abbreviation as i cant find renwax anywhere but RENAISSANCE WAX i can pick up easily,
    stu

p.s whats the best way to apply it

    #2
They are one and the same.....RenWax is just the shortened name for Renaissance Wax.
You should apply a very thin coat to whatever you're applying it to, wait a minute or two, and them gently buff it with a soft cloth.
If you apply it to daggers or knives, just remember to try to avoid putting it on wood or leather, as these need to breathe.
I think you'll be quite pleased with the results on items that you apply RenWax to..... it's a GREAT product!

    Cheers,
    Bob.
I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.....

Question, how do you tell if your Silver Panzer badge is zinc or not?

Here's the link to the picture i have of it on my website. If you need a reverse of the picture of the abdge jsut say so.

The only items on which I currently use Ren-Wax are the bare steel blades of my daggers. I have, so far, not used it on any metals or badges. That's mostly just a decision I've made about it personally.

I agree that you are correct in saying that some collectors have used Ren-Wax on zinc awards. I'm only saying that I personally haven't used it on them yet myself.

However, in the first link that Stu posted, there is a member who comments on his very satisfied experiences using Ren-Wax on zinc badges. The experiences of others are always priceless sources of information.

Thanks for posting the links to the other threads. The panzer badge seems to have some slight signs of corrosion at the top of the pin. Hopefully i will be able to stop its progression with what I have learned so far.

Since the panzer badge was only $45 CDN I will try to find some Ren-Wax and test it out to see if it preserves it. I'm assuming you shouldnt apply it over any corrosion as it would make things worse?

Anyone know any Canadian stores that sell Ren-Wax? If not i will just do a search on Yahoo! for it or maybe eBay. What kind of cloth to you use? Some people have used horse hair brushes, others use a soft cloth. Any of them better then the other? Any type of cloth other then "soft"?

Lots of questions up there but I just want to get things right instead of doing them wrong for a few years and then find out the horrible news....or even worse, see the effects on my collection.

                      Thanks,

                      JR

I always use a soft, cotton cloth to both apply and wipe off the Ren-Wax.

Thanks all for the great input on Ren Wax.
Just remember do not over apply Ren Wax to your dagger baldes. As you know it goes on clear. Some people apply 3-5 coats on each dagger. After awhile over applied will turn a milky color. It will be hard to remove.

Please Do Not Use A Electric Buffer/Polisher To Polish Off Excess Ren Wax. Paul

                            Ren Wax available in Canada

                            Hello,

                            I bought mine here...

                            http://www.carrmclean.ca/Index.aspx

Prompt delivery...no issues. Type the word wax into the search feature and it will pop up part way down the displayed page. I suggest you purchase a small container as it goes a looong way!

You asked about putting it over corrosion. I suggest you contact Robert Pierce on that as he has done some testing of this product over zinc pest I believe. He will be able to give you an update as to how things went.

                            Regards,
                            Stu

I agree that a small amount of Ren-Wax does indeed go a looooong way! I doubt that I'll never need to buy another container of it in my lifetime.
