Any way to help this LW flight jacket?

Is there anything I can do to restore or stop deterioration of this flight jacket? Some sort of liquid got on it in spots many years ago, and for some reason did a number on the material in areas, making it brittle. That is why it looks the way it does - the material got hard and cracked off. I also want to make a luftwaffe flight crew emsemble - is it possible to find this material and repair it?
Any help for this jacket? It is the favorite piece of my collection, and I want to help save it as much as possible.
    Thanks so much,
    A1C Bandow

IMO. These type of repairs should be done by a professional who know historical garments and how to fix them. In the field of conservation of uniforms there is only a hand full of these professionals who can do this work. My experience with them is limited. However their work is not cheap and it's a very slow process. Sometimes the cost of this type of speciality work is more than the item is actually worth, But there work is unblievable good and you can not tell were the repairs were done. I wish it was easy Paul

Thanks for the input, Paul. I hope I can find someone who could give it a shot - I would love for it to be strong again - I am afraid to move it sometimes - I have heard little tears some times when I do so .
            All the best,
            Karl
