Hi all I just purchased a nice looking EK2 and when I received it I found someone had dipped it in some sort of varnish or clear coat that’s starting to yellow is there anything I can do to remove it without causing damage???

I sincerely hope that someone has more hope and promising advice, but I suspect that this varnish has already done some degree of permanent damage to the cross. I would also expect that anything strong enough to remove the varnish would likely cause its own type of additional damage.
However again, although I don't often say this, I certainly hope that I'm wrong.

Matt, I agree with Chis. Unfortunately there is nothing that will work. Most likely any thing done to it will compromise the blacken iron cross. The applied coating has already compromise the core. There is no telling what was used on it. PaulComment
