How to repair officer's peaked cap

I need help. I have obtained as part of a collection I just bought an artillery offficer's peaked cap that is damaged. The damage consists of seperation of the black bill from the rest of the cap. It has not been torn off and all the holes that go through the plastic like material to sew the bill to the rest of the cap are all intact. How the heck can it be repaired? I will appreciate any advice.
