Archival unbuffered textile storage boxes for uniforms

I am going to buy some archival storage boxes and tissue to store and protect my wool tunics and greatcoats. Right now they are on hangers or in plastic tubs, this is not ideal. I have been researching museum-quality archival storage boxes and tissue and am looking at placing an order with University Products (www.archivalsuppliers.com). They sell a box that is 30" long, 18" wide and 6" deep for $47.40 and a larger box that is 40" long, 18" wide and 10" deep for $67.25. Each box comes with 24 sheets of tissue. I am thinking that the smaller size might be good for tunics and the larger size would work for greatcoats. I haven't found any cheaper products. Has anyone out there bought any of these types of boxes for uniforms? Any tips on sizes or recommended suppliers?

I have purchased these type of boxes before for my tunics. I found that the larger box is great for the longcoats. One of my longcoat did not quite fit the box(too long). To solve that I simply rolled some poly batting to about the size demention of my forearm. I placed the coat in the box. Button side up. Towards the bottom 8 inches of left over coat I placed the poly batting. Then I lifted the bottom portion of the coat over the poly batting.(the bottom coat twords the neck) I gently layed the bottom coat portion about a 1/3 of the way up the coat the poly batting material to cushion and did not to crease the coat material.
Some other company to check out are. Talas Conservation Materials has them a little cheaper.(a good company but are a little slow) www.talas-nyc.com Also check Gaylord Museum and Library Supply. Another two companys are (I am not sure if they are still around is called heirloom storage boxes. They used to sell quilt acid free boxes. There are out of AZ. The other company is called Heritage Wedding Gown Co.There focus is wedding preservation.www.heritagegown.com They also sold acid free boxes, but were usually flimsey boxes. Hope this helps! Paul
