There is an excellent article by Charles Machon on pages 38&39 of the January 2008 issue of "Military Trader", that deals with mold and insect infestation on both books and cloth, and some methods used to deal with them.

That is a good article. We buy a lot of collections, and have had to deal with this problem more than once. Good info to know. -

I'll be sure to look for that article. The more I know, the better! I'm sure you can tell what a nut I am about conservation anyway...
So far, however, I'm happy to say that I haven't had to deal with either of those problems in my collection. The only insects I have in my house currently are those in my insect collection...and they're all dead.

I will certainly look for that "insect infestation" article myself. If I get a copy of it, I'll be glad to post a summary of it here. However, it would also be great if someone who has a copy could perhaps go ahead and give us the highlights now. I'd love to know more about that too.
