I'm probably someone on here with one of the smallest collections due to getting started on the hobby only recently - and the fact that college drains a lot of my finances. However - I would like to say that I have just as much of a desire to keep the stuff I do have as nice as people do with the big collections.
I don't have a lot of space right now - so I've been sticking with medals and badges. My question is this:
What if anything do I need to do to keep my medals and badges looking nice? I'm still learning how some items involve zinc - I have one westwall medal that is zinc and another that is bronzed brass. I also have a panzer badge and a IAB. Everything I have I keep on a little shelf in my room. I don't have any fancy stands (No idea where to get them) - so I just lean my badges and medals up against something that won't harm them.
I'm not totally sure if it's ok to just leave them out in the open though. The room is kept just under room temperature and it is rather dry. Is there anything else I need to know? Don't worry - I'm not asking for tips on how to clean patina or anything. I cherish medals and badges that have been through a lot of action and show it as a result. Any tips though that can be offered - would be greatly appreciated.
I also apologize if something to this effect has been asked here already. I'm sure it has. added because I love that smiley face.
