    Felt?

Okay, before I start buying and using felt, let me get the facts straight. Is felt a safe material which you can expose your stuff to over time? I often see it used to cover the foam rubber and polyester battings in display cases. It is certainly very convenient and inexpensive. However, I read somewhere that it is not recommended for long-term storage. I read that it breaks down over time and exudes gases containing sulfur, which would obviously not be good for a collection. Has anyone else heard about this?

Rather than believe I have answered my question with just one earlier-read opinion, I would rather see what others have learned about this--since there are so many people who do use felt in displays.

Also, what are some of the other safe materials that others of you are using to line your display cases?
