    Here is a pic of the grips with carving. I believe these grips are not only WW1 era factory but rare in that they have both oak leaves and pine needles. "BRH" = Benjamin R. Hawes

    On the other side, a medallion was engraved to inlay into the grip, but the
    174th artillery moved forward before the work could be done. It was later drilled and used as a necklace. 2 grip pics coming.

      The medallion is only laying on the grip. It was never finished. The ring was later added for a necklace for Ben Hawes wife. More pic? Just say so.
