How do you clean rust off of the handle of a bayonet?

Hello Mike,

I always use fine steelwool and some gunoil and that works fine and doesn´t harm the blueing that might be left.
Try to go round the wooden or bakelite handle as these might get scratched by the steelwool.

I have used steel wool and gun oil with great success,just be sure to use ultra fine steel wool.It is usually marked 0000.
