Riker Mounts - Like or dislike?

Just wondering what the general consensus is to those oftern seen and used riker mounts. I use them but sometimes see a hazy impression left on the inside glass cover from cloth or metal badges or whatever. Is it a good idea to store cloth & metal badges in these or is the spun polyester cushioning inside deterimental?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Personally I hate 'em, but only because they are so unoriginal as far as displaying goes.

My understanding from reading past threads is

You really have to know what the material is you are using backing etc and if it is archival quality.

As soon as you seal any item in a case or enclosed space the gases given off by the backing/wood/material is concentrated and increases the risk of damage.

They do absolutely nothing for me visually in a collection, but they DO solve a display logistics problem. I only have one thank godness I collect uniforms, flags and such...

As for me, I like them as they make an easy access way to store most items. I buy the ones with the dividers which come in several sizes and colors. They can be stacked easily and hence you can store alot of medals, badges, shoulder straps, etc in a small space. Of course they don't compare to the nicer wood and glass versions for your finer relics but they do ok for my needs. All a matter of taste I suppose
