Storing items in boxes?

Any suggestions on how to store items? I can't display a lot of my items because of storage issues, and the fact that I have small kids and all their friends over at the house all the time. I have some items (web gear, leather items, etc.) stored in the boxes that reams of paper come in. I have heard some talk that there are specific "acid free" boxes that should be used for storage. Also have read that rubbermaid containers are great for their ability to provide protection from water, etc. (I live in an environment where pipes break in the winter due to freezing). Just curious for some input on this? Thanks, Chris...

I like the rubbermaid containers, they come in all sizes, their stackable, waterproof and as far as I know nothing leaches out of the plastic containers. I always throw in a few cedar blocks to ward off any bugs, now I dont know if it matters or not ( I dont want to take any chances), but I never let the cedar blocks touch anything directly.

I used to have my stuff stashed in .50 cal ammo boxes...they didn't seem to take any harm from it?

I actually like that rubbermade tupperwear idea, It should keep out the majority of moisture and insure that contaminants cannot get in.

Storage

I use sealable plastic boxes called "Lock and Lock"...they are airtight and have snap fittings.
I then put a dessicant sachet inside....cheap, moisture free and safe.
