I was just wondering if any of you folks have your collections insured with Collectible Insurance Agency or as a rider on your home insurance?

Hello David!
It is a very important topic you mention here. All collectors should have good collection insurance. I will tell you how I have done it as part of my home insurance “package”:
In Norway we have a militaria expert who has official right to assess collections. So what I did was to take pictures of every single item of my collection. I printed the pictures out in colour and made a detailed description of every item pictured. Then I gave it to the expert and he assessed every item and specified its market value. I got these assessments from him and made a Microsoft word document with all the values filled in. Then I printed it out in two copies and sent them back to him to sign and certify with his stamp. Thus I have two authentic copies just in case – one for home and one for my bank box.
Now I have a document where every item in every picture is described in detail – like maker marks and other characteristic features. Every time I get a new object I register it in my new “Additional list”, and I am going to make a new update with new pictures and new assessment once a yearAttached FilesLast edited by militaria.no; 03-04-2007, 07:52 PM.
