Firearm Storage

I need to find a new place to store my firearms. I have two places: basement (humid) or attic (heat in summer). I would prefer to keep them in the attic but afraid the heat might not be the best for them either? To paranoid?

Best to keep them in some type of conditioned space.

How about a safe in a closet? The humidity in the basement will lead to rust unless you control the humidity (dehumidifier). The heat in the attic can dry out wood stocks and cause them to crack or split. Humidity and heat do not make for good storage conditions.

Check out a place called Cheaper Than Dirt orr any other surplus places that specialize in weapons / equipment. I know they carry a product called Aloksak which are waterproof dry storage bags. Your looking at 200' underwater USN tested so I wouldn't worry about securing them in the basement.
